In partnership with NAWDP we are presenting this three part webinar series designed to meet the professional development needs of seasoned workforce practitioners and managers. These sessions will take a detailed look at how to utilize standardized assessments and industry specific career planning services to increase efficacy in program operations. While the third session will assist busy workforce professionals and managers with behavior management/change strategies to increase productivity. The series includes three one hour sessions on the following topics:
Part 1: Career Assessment Principles and Practices
Providing career planning services requires an in- depth knowledge of the purpose and type of assessment to use along with the specific nature of what is being measured. Workforce systems require some form of an assessment, but how does a career practitioner know this assessment will provide the type of information needed to develop a comprehensive individual development plan? This webinar has been developed to take a deep dive into both the reasons why we utilize assessments and the impact the assessment process has on program outcomes.
Part 2: Career Planning: Individualizing the Process
Career plans are like fingerprints, no two are exactly alike. Or they shouldn't be. Developing a process that ensures each customer receives a customized plan based upon their personal and professional strengths, skills, education and experience is crucial for long term career success. Building a career plan with a customer begins with gaining an understanding of their values and goals. This is done by building a strong relationship, using appropriate assessment tools and working together to identify viable career pathways. This webinar explores the strategies for breaking away from a one size fits all or template plan that doesn't reflect the individual customers strengths and goals. Factors explored will consist of relationship building skills, identifying value streams and how to lay out a specific step by step map for customers to use beyond their time in the program.
Part 3: Beat the Clock: Behavior Focused Time Management
You wake up each day and you probably begin to map out the next 8-10 hours of your life; how many clients you have to see, which workshop you will be teaching, the case notes you need to write or the meeting you have to attend and then you get to work. Eight hours later you realize that your time is up, and you didn't accomplish half of what you set out to and you still feel exhausted. Why does this happen? The simple answer lies with you and more specifically your behavior and concept of time management. Managing your time is just like any other skill, it requires focus, practice and consistent competency development. Understanding your own behaviors will provide you with clarity around how you approach your day, your tasks and priorities. This webinar will assist attendees gain a better understanding of how to manage behaviors that waste valuable time and gain new strategies for scheduling their daily activities to increase control over where their time is being spent.
