Disability Career Consultant Certification Program

The kick-off meeting is on May 14th, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. PST/ 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. EST.
Classes will be held on the following Wednesdays: May 21th, 28th, and June 4th, 11th, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. PST/ 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. EST.


This training is designed for professionals working with people with disabilities who want to improve their knowledge and skills in supporting their customers in their quest to find meaningful career and educational pathways.

Training Overview: We will first introduce you to the core concepts of Self-Determination Theory and the Human Rights Model of Disability to expand your understanding of the experience of living and working with a disability.  We will then teach you a four-step process for providing career development services to your clients with disabilities.

Our Instructor:  Dr. Tina Peterman is a distinguished Professor at Portland State University, a Licensed Professional Counselor, and a Certified Clinical Supervisor in Career Counseling.  With over two decades of expertise as a Counselor Educator, her focus lies in Rehabilitation Counseling and School Counseling. Beyond academia, Dr. Peterman operates a clinical supervision private practice for career and mental health counselors who specialize in assisting individuals with disabilities or chronic illnesses. Her contributions extend to numerous publications in career counseling and disability studies, alongside a longstanding role on the editorial board of Career Development Quarterly. Tina is passionate about training career development professionals globally to enhance support for clients with disabilities.

Course Completion and Certification: Upon successful completion and mastery of this curriculum, including required participation in training sessions, passing all quizzes with a score of 75% or higher, and completion of all assignments, students will receive a certificate of completion attesting to this training completion.

Please Note: Due to the rising cost of labor and the use of resources to process invoices and other services, TAD Grants will charge 3% of the total amount due when a student requests an invoice, Purchase Order and/or TAD Grants to purchase the Required Student Manual, coordinate payment for Association Membership Dues and/or Credential Application Fees.

Refund Policy: Students understand that the purchase of the WCDC Course is for the seat/place in the course and is a reservation, thus the WCDC course fees paid are non-refundable. If a student would like to withdraw from the course, this must be done via email sent directly to the Instructor within 2 weeks of the course commencement date. The student may then join the next available cohort at no additional cost. If a student withdraws after 2 weeks, the course fee will not be refunded and the student will not be eligible to enroll in the next available cohort without paying additional fees.
