Instructions: Instructions: You have been asked to help design a career assessment program for your students. What are one or two assessments [formal or informal] you would use with your students? Make one original post and then respond to one classmate’s post. You will make a total of two posts.

The first Step would be determining whether the assessments chosen will be beneficial to the client and stating the purpose of it. Based on the client’s needs I will be choosing an informal assessment which will be a combination of interview and observation of skills being demonstrated and will inform the client on what the nature of the assessment is while assuring there is no wrong answers. I chose informal assessment even though it has not been developed around scientific guidelines, but it allows the client to express themselves in the determined time.

My first step will be to conduct an induction interview, where I will focus on listening to my student. This will help me :1- in building a positive relation with my student where they can trust me as their counsellor, 2- a basic understanding about my student’s need, 3_ where is that student inters of his career planning eg; they are clueless on what to do? or they have some research done? they have any preferences, likes or dislikes etc….
This basic understanding about my student’s need will help me in planning a career assessment suited for my student. I will use different informal assessments to help student identify their preferences based on their personality characteristics and also the identify their career values. The reason I will choose informal assessments is because this is about the student own understanding about themselves, so there is no right or wrong outcomes.
before administering those assessment, i will give my students clear instructions on what this assessment is about and what is the purpose of this assessment. There are no wrong answer and student will not be judged for the results of the assessment. therefore, they need to be honest.

I agree with your approach in determine the needs of the students and then planning the assessments.
Building a positive relationship seems like an amazing way to start, trust is one of the first key ingredients that we covered in chapter one.
In addition, prepping the student to the assessment instead of having them enter obliviously is also a strong point to pay attention to as you mentioned above, since we don’t want the student to feel like this a pass or fail problem

i’m totally agreed with you , our meeting with the student it will help us to understand him more .
I agree with you I agree with you about the assessment, as the informal assessment is my favorite because it suits all people.
I expect the objective of conducting the assessment should be set, as it varies from one person to another according to the capabilities and interests of each client separately. I prefer informal assessment, such as interviews, through which the capabilities and places of weakness, strength and desires of the client can be assessed through some easy and clear questions. Then I will determine Development plan in agreement with the client.

To start with, conduct an induction interview to get to know the student and build a positive relationship and gain the needed trust by showing understanding of the student’s needs and interests. Navigate through the case and see the level of information my student has about the career.
Start planning according to my student’s age, gender, interests, and needs and build the assessment that helps the student identify in a smooth pattern.
Let my student know the career values that matter to him more.
Do the assessment with clear instructions and a prior explanation of the purpose. The student should be aware that transparency is required as this assessment has no evaluation at the end, and it is not to judge any of his competencies in order to pass or fail.
• My first step will be according to our good relation with the student we will have a meeting to find out his basic and simple needs, and if he didn’t find his life goal or still no, during our meeting with the student we have to show understanding and interesting to the discussion, our assessment would be determining whether the assessments we chooses if it will be beneficial to the client.
• Based on our meeting with the student we will start to build the plan with the basic information, also we will use the information that we got from our student .
• We will use with our student informal assessment which will be a combination of interview and skills, but we need to explain to our student how to do the assessments and how it will help us.
• I choose informal assessment even it will not though it has not been developed around scientific guidelines, but it will help our student to express themselves in the determined time.
• From time to time we will meet with our student to check the progress and evaluate the plan.
I like using Traitify because it’s a less formal, simple assessment that gives the participant another way to see employment possibilities for themselves. it also serves as a great icebreaker. While CASAS (Math and Reading) is definitely more formal, it also gives me opportunity to see where the participant is as far their educational skills, and gives me an idea where they can move toward as far as training.
